First Ever Blog

Hello to the worldwide knitting community.  I am am very pleased to be able to share my products with you via this online store.  Previously I have sold in Australia through the CraftAlive shows in NSW and Victoria. The picture above is at the Bendigo CraftAlive show in June. Meeting fellow knitters at these shows is always a two-way exchange. I hope some of you will post photos of your knitted creations on this site. It is always great to see different interpretations of a pattern and so inspire others.

My range of products will increase as I source quality knitting items at a reasonable cost. I do have some pure wool (Lorraine's Rug Kit) but I do not intend stocking wool in general. I will keep you updated on new arrivals via a monthly post to my blog. If you are registered for my newsletter I will let you know when the blog post goes up.

Please browse the range of rug patterns (books and downloadable PDFs), rug kits, rotating yarn butlers and knitting accessories in our store. Hopefully you will find and buy something that will inspire your next knitting project. I am sorry I cannot provide a nearby coffee shop to complete a pleasant shopping experience for you.

Knitting Snippet

Many people will have heard Pachelbel's Canon at a wedding or a funeral but not many will know about his oldest daughter Amalie who was an avid knitter. She was known for her floral watercolours, copper engravings and porcelain pieces. After her death she was included in Doppelmayr's encyclopedia of important mathematicians and artists in Nuremberg, where she lived after her marriage. The picture above shows the commemorative plaque installed on her childhood home in Erfurt. The German text reads, "Here lived Amalie Pachelbel (1688-1723) author of the first knitting patterns textbook". Source: Wikipedia
